Barbara D. McQuain, President and Insurance Automation SpecialistEmail: bmcquain@mcquain.com As President of McQuain & Associates, Inc., Barbara provides consulting services to independent insurance agencies in the areas of software implementation/customization, report generation, training (including Microsoft Office products), custom database programming, and accounting troubleshooting. Barbara has 17+ years of experience in the insurance industry. Currently, she serves as an Assistant Vice President with Wachovia Insurance Services. In the past she has worked as a Controller, Accounting Manager backup, and in several agency accounting departments. In addition, she was a Boiler and Machinery Underwriter for both Protection Mutual Insurance Company and Travelers Insurance Company. She has also served on the Board of Directors and as the Chapter President for the Florida Users Group of Applied Systems (FUGAS). Barbara’s technology background includes implementing and maintaining a variety of computer networks. In the past she has served as the I.T. Site Manager for DavisBaldwin (a division of Wachovia Insurance Services) and a Systems Administrator. She also has experience customizing in-house applications and creating custom reporting tools. Barbara has several years of training experience including two years as a Systems Trainer II for Applied Systems, Inc. where she trained insurance agency staff and management personnel on the Applied's client database, accounting, marketing, reporting and customization features and utilities. Her responsibilities also included observing Level I trainers. In addition, she has been a featured presenter at the North American Users Group of Applied Systems (NAUGAS) annual conference. Barbara has attended both St. Petersburg Junior College and William Paterson College. In addition, she has completed a variety of coursework on Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, FoxPro, MSMail and the Windows operating environment. She has also received training in general PC hardware troubleshooting. Mike McQuain, Applications Developer and WebmasterEmail: mmcquain@mcquain.com Mike has almost 20 years of experience in applications development, systems/database administration, desktop publishing, computer graphics design, audio/video production, and technology training. Mike's recent work has included development projects for an online competency profiling tool, customized human resources database system, securities discrepancy tracking/reporting system, Y2K project management reporting system, an electronic training inventory tool, a graduate tracking system, web-based employee surveys, and a service level agreement (SLA) performance metric tracking application. In addition to his application development work, Mike serves as the webmaster for several firms and has several years of experience in the design and implementation of Internet/Intranet web sites. Mike has worked at Salomon Brothers in Operations and Technology where he was responsible for developing a fully integrated online human support system database application for 550+ users. Additionally, he served as the systems administrator for all online HR/Training systems. His responsibilities included providing technical support for Salomon’s PC and Unix training labs and multimedia, computer-based training (CBT) systems. In addition to his technical background, Mike has several years of training experience as a computer software instructor for a variety of PC, Unix and Macintosh desktop applications. He has experience in all aspects of training, including design and development, delivery, production and administration. Mike is a graduate of Davis and Elkins College with a BA in Audio Recording and Production and a minor in Business Administration.
